Manchester United looking to offload six players before the transfer windows shut close
Manchester United’s transfer market has not yet been a complete success as they are yet to sign their top targets, However, the Red Devils would also be looking to plan a few outgoings to balance their financial books this summer.
Erik ten Hag has signed a few players that he had craved for and that has been possible due to the departure of several unwanted players.
Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic, and Juan Mata have all left Old Trafford which has brought down the long-standing theory that the club is comfortable in keeping deadwood in the squad for years.
But the target hasn’t been achieved as the Red Devils squad still has a few players that could be discarded in the coming weeks. According to the Daily Mail, the United board would be on the lookout for potential buyers for six senior players.
Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, and Axel Tuanzebe would be on the peak of this list as none of them have been able to form a strong base at Manchester. Ten Hag reunited with his former player, Lisandro Martinez, and the club now has four top center-backs that could be reshuffled every game if needed.
With Raphael Varane Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof keeping the center-back spot, there would be little chance for the three defenders to make an impact next season. Although Bailly has been looking sharp in the first two preseason games, he performed poorly in the following games as he gave away fouls for fun.
The Ivory Coast star’s injury record would add more fuel to fire. Phil Jones has been destined to leave Old Trafford as he came close to joining Bordeaux last season, only to reject a move at the end.
Alex Telles could be another player to face the stick after the arrival of Tyrell Malacia. The Feyenoord fullback would be competing with Luke Shaw for a spot in the starting XI.
Similarly, Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be heading out as he has been left out of the starting XI since Ralf Rangnick took over on an interim basis.
Last but not least, full-back Brandon Williams would be the final on this list as the young lad would have to find pastures somewhere else after failing to impress with his loan spell at Norwich.
