Everton have made Armando Broja their top striker target as they look into the transfer market to replace Richarlison.
The Athletic have reported on Frank Lampard’s pursuit of a new frontman having sold the Brazilian to Tottenham already this summer.
They say that Broja, who Lampard will be familiar with from his time in charge of Chelsea, is the one Everton want the most.
But they do face competition from elsewhere in the Premier League, with former Toffees manager David Moyes wanting to sign him for West Ham.
Everton make Broja top target
The 20-year-old did not initially fly out with Thomas Tuchel’s squad for their American tour on Saturday, which was an opportunity for Everton to make a breakthrough.
But they did not manage to do that and he flew out on Tuesday, which could make doing a deal that bit harder.
Broja got gametime at Southampton last season and reportedly wants to make the move to a club where he will get more matches than he can expect at Chelsea.
Broja’s pace was described as ‘incredible’ during his Southampton loan spell and he does look to have a big future at Premier League level.
It seems Chelsea may need to sell him to balance the books, but they have loaned out Romelu Lukaku and not signed a new striker yet.
So why they are not keener to keep him is a bit of a mystery, but that could be to Everton’s advantage if they can plot a raid on Lampard’s old club.
