Police have launched an investigation after a huge fight broke out at a McDonald’s in London. Have a look at how it unfolded below:
Shocking footage shared on social media shows what appear to be dozens of delivery drivers clashing outside a Maccies in Tooting, London, last month.
In the video, they can be seen punching and kicking one another, with some using their helmets as weapons and a window being smashed.
In the background, people can be heard urging the gang to stop, but their pleas are ignored.
The Metropolitan Police told LADbible that they were called to the scene, but that by the time officers arrived, the group had left.
A spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 13:00hrs on Tuesday, 28 June to reports of a number of people fighting in Mitcham Road, SW17.
“Officers attended but those involved were no longer on scene.
“No arrests; no reports of any injuries. Inquiries into the circumstances continue.”
In a post on Twitter, the force said it had been in touch with delivery companies following the incident.
It said: “Due to recent events, our officers have been working side by side with @McDonalds Tooting, @Deliveroo, @ubereats_uk and @JustEatUK to tackle ASB outside McDonald’s involving delivery drivers. Our officers have been engaging with numerous delivery drivers and tackling ASB issues.”
In an update, the police added: “One delivery driver processed for no insurance and multiple other delivery partners spoken to.”
Since the footage was posted, some have put the incident down to a scam being conducted by some drivers to get more orders from McDonald’s.
According to one driver, they alter their GPS to make it look like they are closer to the restaurants than they really are, allowing them to steal pick ups.
Carlos Domingues told The Sun said: “Some McDonald’s are no-go zones now.
“Aggressive drivers intimidate anyone coming on to their patch. So many fake their GPS and take multiple orders with different accounts.”
This comes after another video doing the rounds on Twitter showed another fight outside a McDonald’s in West London a week earlier.
In the footage, staff and delivery drivers can be seen trying desperately to keep the door shut as a violent group tries to get inside.
A man then kicks the door before throwing a large object, smashing the glass.
Following the incident, a spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Police were called at 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21 to reports of a group of people fighting at a restaurant in Hampton Road West, Feltham.
“Officers attended and found a man aged in his 20s with a head injury. His condition was not life-threatening.
“A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon and affray. He remains in custody while inquiries continue.”
